Beloeil, August 9, 2018 – The draw for the Maison Enfant Soleil signée Bonneville took place this morning live on the show Salut Bonjour! broadcast on the TVA network with Alain Dumas. Mrs. Véronique Veilleux (ticket no 109639) is the lucky winner. The winner has the choice between a prize worth $500,000 including a decorated and fully furnished house, as well as a grant to set it up on the land of her choice, or $325,000 in cash.
This inspiring project has been a tremendous success thanks to the extraordinary commitment of our major partners: Les Industries Bonneville, official construction company, IKEA, official furniture supplier and decorator, Lowe’s Canada, official supplier of materials, and TD Bank, main supplier of the land.
A project of this scale would not have been possible without the support of companies in the provincial sales network: RE/MAX, Familiprix, Couche-Tard, Réno-Dépôt et Rona.
The involvement of all our partners, combined with community participation, will once again contribute to the realization of several projects in large pediatric centres, hospitals, and regional organizations in Quebec this year.
More than 2 million dollars were raised by draw ticket sales this year, and more than 24 million dollars have been raised for the well-being of sick children since the first Maison Enfant Soleil draw in 1993.
Angéline Lamy, Enfant Soleil ambassador
During a family meal, one-year-old Angéline had convulsions. Her parents called the ambulance, and their child was taken to the hospital as an emergency admission. In the intensive care unit, doctors did not want to venture an opinion on her chances of survival and the risk of serious after-effects. Angéline had just experienced acute respiratory distress syndrome. Her lungs were seriously ill, her liver visibly swollen and, initially, no treatment produced the expected results. Fortunately, the use of a high-frequency ventilator and the installation of drains for each lung allowed her to recover. Today, Angéline is healthy and can aspire to a normal life. “My lungs were really sick. A machine made me breathe. But thanks to you, today I’m better, and I can do everything that other children can.”
About Opération Enfant Soleil
Opération Enfant Soleil raises funds to support the development of high-quality pediatrics for all sick children in Quebec. Donations have made it possible to carry out hundreds of projects each year in local organizations as well as in major pediatric centres, which are equipped with cutting-edge technology and welcoming environments, and in regional hospitals, where children can be treated near their families. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of Quebeckers, the support of volunteers and the dedication of our partners, more than 230 million dollars has been distributed throughout the province.
