Quebecers Unite Once Again for Sick Children

15 June 2020

33rd Opération Enfant Soleil Telethon Thank you 17,066,729 times!

Quebecers have once again shown their solidarity toward sick children and their families during the 33rd edition of the Opération Enfant Soleil Telethon. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity demonstrated over the course of the day of June 7, a total of $16,724,819 was announced that evening. The support of the population didn’t stop there, however. Indeed, the donations continued online, on the phone, and from the valuable partners of the cause, allowing us to announce a final total of $17,066,729 today!

Thanks to all those who came together to help children affected by disease, Opération Enfant Soleil will be able to continue its mission and support healthcare facilities in all four corners of Quebec. Around the world, normal life has been put on pause, but among all the uncertainties, one conviction remains: children continue to need care, and thanks to you, Opération Enfant Soleil will be there for them.

In light of the safety and prevention measures implemented, it was an adjusted and largely pre-recorded concept that was presented alternately on TVA and Facebook. To meet this challenge, the Opération Enfant Soleil team was able to rely on the support of all the caring people involved in the cause, including the Enfants Soleil, our partners, and our volunteers. Thank you to TELUS and their partner Thrio, who achieved the feat of dematerializing the call centres so that more than 300 volunteers could collect the generosity of thousands of donors, all in total safety in the comfort of their homes.

The success of this 33rd Telethon would not have been the same without the co-operation of the valuable spokespeople of the cause. Annie Brocoli and Maxime Landry, the main hosts, were surrounded by an experienced team: Mélissa Bédard, Alain Dumas, Camille Dg, Anick Dumontet, Philippe Fehmiu, Roseline Filion, Louis-Georges Girard, Josée Lavigueur, Arthur L’aventurier, Eve-Marie Lortie, Annie-Soleil Proteau, and Félix-Antoine Tremblay. Many artists gave touching performances, including 2Frères, Roxane Bruneau, Garou, Matt Holubowski, the dancers Janie & Marcio, Marie-Josée Lord, and Marjo.

Because little miracles don’t happen on their own, thank you to all our partners for their invaluable support, including Walmart, Costco, Familiprix, RE/MAX, Lowe’s Canada, The Brick, Aluminerie Alouette, Desjardins, TELUS, TD, Bizou, Cominar, Énergie Cardio, Opto-Réseau, Couche-Tard, Mikes, TVA, Le Journal de Québec, Le Journal de Montréal, and Rythme.
