$67 112 Received by CISSS de l’Outaouais and Two Regional Organizations

Gatineau, March 28, 2017 – As part of a province-wide hospital tour, spokesperson Marie-Ève Janvier presented $48 702 to CISSS Outaouais, including $23 336 to the Gatineau Hospital and $25 366 to the Pierre-Janet Hospital Centre. Two grants were also issued to organizations in the region. To date, a total of $814 202 has been presented to the Outaouais region in order to offer better care to children and the best possible quality of life during hospitalization thanks to the development of spaces dedicated to their recovery.

Adrien Perth, 6 years old, Outaouais’s Enfant Soleil

Adrien is a real fighter! Born prematurely at 25 weeks, Adrien has given his parents quite a fright on several occasions since he came into the world. He has had several operations, including one on his heart in the room funded by Opération Enfant Soleil in the Montréal Children’s Hospital. Today, Adrien is doing well, although he suffers from a developmental delay. He takes part in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and special education.

Enfant Soleil stories from every region of Québec will be presented on June 4, 2017, during the Opération Enfant Soleil Telethon, which will be broadcast on the TVA network from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. live from the ExpoCité Centre de foires in Québec.

Grant Details

$23 336 presented to CISSS de l’Outaouais, Gatineau Hospital

The amount of $11 288 will be used to purchase a specialized bed for handicapped children that is easily accessible for children who require care and allows them to sleep safely. In addition, in order to foster the care and quick recovery of infants in the region, Opération Enfant Soleil and the Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux will each provide $6024 toward the purchase of a cardio/respiratory monitor that ensures more appropriate and more effective monitoring and follow-up for oxygen therapy. Since 1992, Opération Enfant Soleil has presented $492 655 to this centre.

$25 366 presented to CISSS de l’Outaouais, Pierre-Janet Hospital Centre

These funds will contribute to the construction of an outdoor courtyard intended for children ages 5 to 12, including the installation of a playground and a basketball court. These facilities will allow children to move around and develop their motor skills. Since 2002, Opération Enfant Soleil has granted $181 447 to this centre.

$18 410 presented to two regional organizations

The Centre d’intervention en abus sexuels pour la famille (CIASF) received a total of $11 483 from the Fonds Marie-Soleil Tougas, which aims to support projects that help young people living in socially vulnerable situations. This amount will make it possible to offer reconciliation activities in the therapy process of programs for child victims and also to acquire specialized materials for group workshops.

La Traversée de l’Outaouais received $6927 from the Fonds Josée Lavigueur from Opération Enfant Soleil, which aims to prevent illness in young people through physical activity. These funds will be used to purchase a playground for children ages 5 and 12. Thanks to this playground, the children will be able to play, expend energy, interact with their peers, and learn to share space and respect rules, all while having fun.
